5 Ways to Style a Blazer

5 Ways to Style a Blazer

Welcome back y’all! Blazers seem to be all the rage lately, and my closet is certainly full of them. I have a blazer in just about every color…and let’s not get into designs, LOL.

Traditionally, blazers are worn for business purposes and almost always exclusively by men. Now, blazers can be worn for all occasions and for all genders!

Today, this blog post is all about the different ways you can style a blazer. From casual to super dressy, there’s loads of ways to take your blazers from blah to wow!

1. On top of a sleeveless shirt and biker shorts

This option has got to be my most popular way to wear a blazer…besides professionally! Throw on either a tube top, a cropped tank top, or one shoulder top to achieve the perfect cute, yet comfortable look.

Obviously, the bottom will be biker shorts, but when I wear this look, I tend to try and wear the same color for the top and biker shorts. So, if I’m wearing a white tube top, my biker shorts will be white also. This all depends on you though, especially since biker shorts come in all sorts of designs.

With this style option, I like for the blazer to be the compliment piece, or stand out piece, which is why I let the top and bottoms “fade” into the background a bit.

For shoes, platform shoes or knee/thigh high boots are a great option.

2. All by itself with a statement belt

This option is a look that I haven’t quite figured out how to master yet, but I’ve seen loads of people do.

Mavence does an amazing job with a similar style. She has on a white blazer with seemingly nothing underneath, until you scroll a few more pages and see that she has a sleeveless top and shorts. However, the blazer is oversized enough to give the illusion of wearing only it…and that’s what you want!

Pair this with a pair of sneakers, like her, or class it up with calf/thigh high sandals!

3. The casual pantsuit

Of course, the classic way to wear a blazer is with a pair of nice dress pants. Of course, matching the color is ideal, but there’s nothing wrong with mixing and matching y’all!

Rita Ora does this amazingly, as seen in Vogue in 2017.

Not sure about wearing all neon to the office, but for a quick coffee run or pap encounter, Ora looks amazing in the ensemble. I don’t wear this combination too often since I think I can be dressy/business casual in other ways, but this is always a classic blazer option!

4. White t-shirt, jeans and a blazer on top

This is the fit I end up opting for in most situations. Dark wash, light wash, or medium wash, you can’t go wrong with those jeans and a plain white t-shirt.

I like to wear ripped jeans to give it an edgier look.

For shoes, anything with a platform would be perfect!

5. Blazer and shorts

Another classic pairing is a blazer and shorts. This can also be dressed up or down, but if it is dressed up, I would opt for a night out in the outfit over a day in the office.

Katieporterlifestyle is a great example of this style. You probably saw a lot of this combination during the WFH era of COVID…though for many, this is still ongoing!

Well, there you have it. Five ways to wear a blazer, both unique and classic!
